Ramadhan is the ninth month of the islamic lunar calendar. During this month muslim     observe a complete fast from down until sunset. The observance of the Ramadhan considered to be the fourth pillar of islam, is detailed in the Quran.

Fasting and focusing on prayer and charity during Ramadhan is mean to purify the body and spirit and bring the faithful closer to Allah S.W.T. Fasting during the month is also one of the five pillars of Islam. The fast of Ramadhan is both spiritual significance of the addition the basic requirements of the fast, there are additional and recommended practices in order to gain.

Meals are taken before down and after sunset, known respectively as suhoor and iftar . At dusk, many gather to break the fast by eating dates and drinking water, following the example of the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. The night of Ramadhan are a time for families and friends, often a festive occasion with special foods. many mosque offer a Qur'anic recitation nightly during Ramadhan such as the islamic society of Greater Houston's Southwest zone mosque on lailatul qadar.

When I was a young girl, the holy month of Ramadhan was describe as the times when the gates  of heaven are opened. Satan's army are locked in hell. WE generally spend a lot of many during Ramdhan. In the morning, I and my family do all the different sort of activities to pass the time we play chess, read al-Quran and study to fulfill the leisure time. I'm start fasting at ten years old. Every weekend, I accompany my mother go to market to buy groceries. I and my father always go to bazar at 6.00 pm. I always like to buy agar-agar. Sometimes, I and my sister help my mother to prepare menu for iftar. Every morning at 5.00 am, my mother or my father will awake me from me from sleep to sahoor. Sometimes, I cannot fast full of one day so I just eat without my mother permission but after that, i tell my mother. I always look at clock and counting the time for iftar but after I at twelve years old, I learn to fasting without looking the clock all the time.

At the end of the month of fasting, muslims gather in large group to performs the prayer of Eid al-fitr. Every morning on one Syawal I and my family will go to nearest mosque to join he muslims prayer of Eid al-Fitr. Before we go to mosgue, my siblings will shake with my parent. Some muslims in addition to payying the obligatory zakat al-Fitr, a special offering for the needy, performs act of chharity through out the month and especially on this day. Children receive new clothes, jewelerry, toys and other gifts. parent teach the next generation the importance of following the islamic obligations of fasting, prayer and reading the Al-Quran.
